  January 2019   The Happiness Effect New evidence suggests employees’ emotions are directly correlated to their performance presented by Brooks Carder, PhD Traditionally, quality has been about discovering weaknesses and portrays employee well-being as a side effect of quality improvement. Over the past decade, however, evidence has shown that the opposite is true—employee well-being is a driver of performance. The author explores the effect of positive psychology on organizational performance and the importance of ensuring employee satisfaction.   Dr. Brooks Carder is a principal of Carder and Associates, LLC in Cardiff-by-the-Sea, CA. and Adjunct Professor of Psychology at Point Loma Nazarene University. He earned a doctorate in psychology from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He began his career as Assistant Professor of Psychology at UCLA. He has run both for-profit and not-for-profit business he is the author of over 50 peer-reviewed journal articles and two books. Dr. Carder is a senior member of ASQ and chair of ASQ’s Human Development and Leadership Division.   Meeting schedule: 5:30  Registration and networking 6:00  Dinner 6:20  Announcements  6:30  Program (approximately 60 minutes)   For those who wish to purchse dinner, it will be served buffet style. Dinner will be ordered from O's American Kitchen: Market salad, BBQ chicken pizza, veggie pizza, roasted chicken, breadsticks, brownies, cookies. Drinks available with dinner will be soda, iced tea or water.
